MISSION OBJECTIVE:
KITCHEN HAIRCUT ELECTRONIC MEGAZINE is a self-proclaimed alternative entity to regular, conservative media. Our incentive is to provide sources of literature, news, art and entertainment to a world plagued with Rush Limbaughs and Bill O'Reilly's. Our objective is to eventually bring light to would-be authors', poets' and artists' literary and artistic talents; talents that might otherwise go unnoticed through normal, bureaucratic channels.
The core contents include some, all, or none of the following (how's that for all-or-none inclusive?): prose; short fiction; art; poetry; satire; creative non-fiction; New and Gonzo journalism; media reviews; headline and late-breaking news; discussion forums; liberal essays; political discourse; letters; editorials; and, of course, our special feature Doonesbury.
The site will also offer pages and links to sites aimed at at a variety of sites that offer items of interest to our visitors:
FUTURE OBJECTIVES:
To re-instate this home-opererative business as before: Doing freelance writing, graphic art & design, and web development for individuals, small businesses and major corporations. To pay personal expenses associated with this objective (marketing, grant research, furthering my education in this field) and to become fully self-sufficient without reliance on outside employers.
GOAL:
The ultimate goal of this endeavor is to market my services both online and in print; to have the equipment and resources to make this possible; to further enhance my education; and to, again, become fully self-reliant.
DESCRIPTION
Kitchen Haircut Graphic Art & Design was founded in 1993 to perform freelance writing projects and graphic art and design work; such as business cards, flyers, resumes, brochures, and book layouts for individuals, small businesses and high-volume print publication companies. In 1997, the company added web design to its repertoire, changing its name in the process to Kitchen Haircut Graphic Art & Web Development with a good amount of success
HISTORY:
A simple website developed both in ideal, development and realization. The site, www.kitchenhaircut.com, which started as a computer science assignment, grew to reach success and popularity beyond anyone's expectation, reaching an audience of over 1.2 million web surfers at one point.
Kitchenhaircut.com's main concentration was originally to highlight the author's prose, poetry and artwork as a self-promotional tool. With a growing audience, who took an interest in both the unusual name and concept, the site continued to grow. KH.com came to include live newsfeeds from UPI, AP and Reuter's news sources; Garry Trudeau's nationally syndicated comic strip Doonesbury; pages devoted to natural-resource conservation, historical preservation and political activism; and a liberal political discussion forum that went from rank #1324 to #3 in less than two months.
I believe that success can be duplicated again, on an even more illustrious scale, with assistance from associates, friends and family in both matters of genuine, moral and financial support-and make a great deal of revenue in the process.
SERVICES:
In addition to the unique elements of kh.com, there will be the supplementation of affiliates (sites that pay dividends to your company for sending potential clients their way via links to their sites from yours) and downloadable software for a minimal charge made payable to Kitchen Haircut. Also, Kitchen Haircut has just formed a direct alliance with Amazon.com (the primary online vendor of books, music and DVD's) whose products we will market and share the revenues on all purchases made through our site.
There is also the addition to a direct link to Ebay, the site renowned for its audience and moneymaking ventures, of which we will also have a hand in. Our site, now kitchenhaircut.net, has also gained the capability to accept all major credit cards through PayPal, with payments going straight into our company's First Indiana Bank account within a matter of minutes.
On top of taking on these lucrative partners, we still are still offering the same, special services, which have always existed through the Kitchen Haircut name: Freelance writing, copyediting, graphic art and design projects and most predominantly, web design. When people actually see Kitchen Haircut's website, they ultimately want a site of their own.
Marketing: Kitchen Haircut intends to use a combination of both print and online advertising to regain its audience. The company has an extensive and highly respectable reputation due to the use of those actions, but even more so through simple word-of-mouth. We have also acquired an associate, Paul Jackson-close friend, confidant and high moral supporter of this undertaking-who has agreed to act as a sales agent for services existing and rendered through Kitchen Haircut. He asks only for a nominal percentage of the earnings depending on the size and yield of the project itself in return. Moreover, if nothing else, the name itself draws people in for a look-see for themselves.
